Kristen Stewart, tacones altos y perros fantasma
Estuvimos con la actriz en Londres por Blanca Nieves y el Cazador.
Fue un momento bastante surrealista. Platicamos con Kirsten Stewart en West Sussex, dos horas al sur de Londres, en el medieval Castillo Arondel. Para caminar sobre las resbalosas escaleras de mármol, Kirsten tiene que quitarse sus tacones azul cobalto. Ambas titiritamos de frío, ya que la sala de estar en la que se lleva a cabo la conversación tiene varias corrientes de aire… o tal vez se debe a los escalofríos provocados por el legendario perro fantasma que los cuidadores del lugar juran que lleva años siendo una presencia en el lugar.
“Estoy congelándome, cañón”, dice Kristen, riendo.
Estamos aquí para hablar sobre tu nueva versión de Blanca Nieves, quien es de armas tomar…
“Tal vez esto dice algo sobre lo mucho que hemos avanzado porque no puedo apoyar al poder de las mujeres porque entonces se preguntan por qué todos le ponen el calificativo de girl power, ¿sabes a lo que me refiero? Tal vez porque soy muy joven veo a nuestra industria de una manera diferente: sí, hay más papeles para los hombres, pero al mismo tiempo hay más roles para mujeres que antes. Para mí es muy importante resaltar la femineidad de mis personajes en lugar de realizar una extraña imitación de un hombre, porque eso es lo que le gusta a los estudios. Creo que han existido historias increíbles sobre mujeres y seguirá siendo así…. Hay que seguir luchando, señoritas, pero al mismo tiempo no es tan difícil como solía ser y creo que la cosa mejorará. Y si quieres hacer algo que no esté disponible, yo digo que lo hagas. Anda, haz una película. Si no obtienes lo que deseas no puedes ir por la vida culpando a todo lo que te rodea. Tienes que creer en tus aspiraciones, sabes. Haz una película con tu iPhone. Suena bastante simplista, pero tienes que pavimentar tu propio camino sin culpar a los demás”.
¿Hay alguna historia que tú quieras contar?
Siempre he querido hacer películas, eso es seguro. Pero no he encontrado la historia que quiero contar. También me fascina ser actriz en este momento de mi vida, y creo que es un periodo tan lleno de cosas para mí que este oficio me obsesiona. Pero hay algunos cortometrajes que sé que haré algún día. Esa necesidad de capturar imágenes es definitivamente algo que tengo y hay cosas que me gustaría hacer que sucedan… sólo para ver cómo acontecen. Quiero estar en esa posición en que puedo hacer que las cosas sucedan, en que mi nombre pueda lograr que un proyecto reciba luz verde. Estoy rodando una película llamada Callie con Nick Cassavetes, y es sobre el área del Valley en California y yo soy de ahí. No quiero sonar muy arrogante con lo que te voy a decir, pero saber que puedes hacer que algo suceda es maravilloso, es muy cool”.
OF GHOST DOGS, HIGH HEELS AND KRISTEN STEWART
Surreal. Hanging out with Kristen Stewart, in West Sussex, 2 hours south of London, in the medieval Arondel Castle. She has to take her cobalt blue high heels off to walk the slippery marble stairs, and we’re both shivering because the hall we settle in to talk is drafty – or is that just the chill from the legendary ghost dog the castle’s caretakers swear has been haunting the place for hundreds of years?
“It’s freezing. This is ridiculous,” she laughs.
We’re here to talk about this new, empowered Snow White…
“Maybe this says something about how far we’ve come that I can’t get behind girl power because it’s like why is everyone qualifying it, do you know what I mean? Maybe because I am so young I look at the industry of ours differently – yes there are more parts for guys but at the same time there are more parts for women than there used to be. It’s just important for me to play girls – instead of doing this like weird imitation of a guy because that’s what the studios like. I think that there have been incredible stories about women and there will continue to be and let’s keep fighting ladies but at the same time it’s not as hard as it was so I think it’s only going to get better. Also, if you want to do something that isn’t available out there, then I say, do it. Go make a movie. If you’re not getting what you want then you can’t just blame everything around you. You have to just believe in your aspirations, you know. Go make a movie on your iPhone. It sounds really lame but like pave your own way and don’t blame others.”
Is there a story you want to tell?
“I’ve always wanted to make movies for sure. I haven’t found the story that I want to tell yet. I also love being an actor so much right now and I think it’s like such a loaded period for me that I am just kind of obsessed with it. But I have a few short movies that I know that I will do sometime soon. That need to capture images is definitely something that I have and there are a few things that I’m very inclined to see happen – just to see them happen. put me in this position that we can make things happen, that my name can get a project greenlit. Like I’m doing this movie called CALLIE working with Nick Cassavetes, and it’s about the Valley and I’m from there. I don’t want to sound like really arrogant right now but to know that you can make something happen is really is awesome, is really cool.”
