John Travolta triunfa en Karlovy Vary

«Ser actor es un viaje muy
interesante»

Robert DeNiro.

“Being an actor is such an interesting journey,” says John
Travolta
, accepting the Crystal Globe Award for Outstanding Contribution to
World Cinema at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, in the Czech Republic.“We are asked to reflect
humanity, mankind. It is our own personal interpretation of that. It does not
mean you are going to agree with that or even like it. I’ve said it before – to
be or not to be. I am glad that you allow me to be.

Travolta’s appearance onstage at the grand hall at the festival
center, the Hotel Thermal, situated in the middle of the quaint bohemian spa
town two hours drive southwest of Prague, came after clips from many of his
best-known films – including Pulp Fiction, Grease, Saturday Night Fever and The
Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
were shown, eliciting wild cheers from the audience, who
treated him like a rockstar.
And he certainly got a much better response from the crowd than the opening night film, Michel
Gondry’s Mood Indigo – which had a third of the audience walking out before the
halfway point. But on Day 2, Travolta was back on stage, first to introduce an
open air screening of Grease to more than 2,200 eager film fans, many of whom
are students who annually camp out to attend this event – and later that
evening to introduce the premiere of his new film Killing Season, a
psychological thriller/action/anti-war story in which he stars with Robert
DeNiro.
