¡Johnny está enamorado!

Ja Ja. No, no está comprometido con su coestrella en Trascender Paul Bettany. Simplemente se están divirtiendo un poco para mi cámara. Pero el pirata, quien lleva soltero un buen rato, sí está finalmente comprometido para casarse con la adorable Amber Heard, su coestrella de The Rum Diaries. (¿Fue ella la razón para la separación de Johnny Depp con su pareja de tanto tiempo y madre de sus hijos, Vanessa Paradis? Probablemente, aunque él insisite que él y la madre de sus hijos continúan siendo buenos amigos. También insisite en que los rumores sobre el embarazo de su joven prometida no tienen fundamentos). 

¿Trae puesto un anillo de bodas de mujer? Él sonríe. «Sí, este le quedó muy grande a ella. Por eso lo traigo puesto. Necesito mandarlo a arreglar. Este fue el segundo. Intentaré explicarlo, obviamente no lo haré con mucho detalle porque es medio raro hablar de cosas tan personales, pero yo diseñé el anillo original. Le dibujé todos los elementos y creo que estaban un poco fuera de proporción. No sabía lo que significaban los números en términos de diamantes. Pero bueno, ahora ya lo sé. Así que dibujé el anillo y así lo mandé y cuando me lo enviaron el diamante tenía el tamaño de un ojo humano. En serio. Y supuse que sería un poco incómodo para ella en su día a día caminando por la calle, de compras o yendo por un jugo. Así que le compré este. El sutil. Pero le queda muy flojo, así que se quedó en mi dedo. Voy a llevarlo a que lo hagan de su tamaño y ya luego que ella escoja cuál prefiere. El otro pesa muchísimo y es posible que le haga caminar de lado. Le va a quemar la retina a alguien si los saluda de lejos».

Este Johnny es definitivamente uno más ligero y feliz que el que hemos estado acostumbrados a ver. Y además de enamorarse y de comprometerse, el actor ha estado muy ocupado los últimos 2 años.

Bettany, they’re just having some fun for my camera. But the long-unmarried pirate IS committed to finally walking down the aisle, engaged to the lovely Amber Heard,
his co-star from The Rum Diaries. (Was she the reason for the split between Johnny Depp and his long-time love & baby mama, Vanessa Paradis? Probably, though
he insists he and the mother of his children remain very good friends. He also insists that rumors his young
fiancée is pregnant are unfounded.)

Is that a woman’s wedding ring he’s wearing?  He grins. “Yeah this is the one that is too big for her. That’s
why I am wearing it., I need to get it fixed.  This was the second one. I will try and
explain it, obviously I am not going to explain it in great detail, because
it’s weird to get too personal. But I designed the original engagement ring
myself, drawing all the various elements, which were maybe a little bit out of
proportion perhaps. (laughs) I didn’t know what numbers mean in terms of diamond
size. Well I do now. So I drew out this ring and there were the specifications
and sent it off to the guy and when it came back to me the diamond was the size
of a human eye. Seriously. And I realized that it might be a little
uncomfortable for her to wear, you know, wandering down the street antique shopping
or going for a juice. So I got her this one, the subtle one. And it’s too loose
on her so it hasn’t left my finger since. I will get it fitted to her finger
and then she can make the decision. The other one, I don’t know, it might make
her start walking lopsided, the weight of the damned thing just pulling her arm
down. Or just waving hello to someone, the glare could burn someone’s retina.”

This is definitely a lighter and happier Johnny Depp than we’ve
seen in a long time. And besides falling in love and getting engaged, the actor
has obviously been very busy these last two years.
