The Judge, con Robert Downey Jr. y Robert Duvall. Hector and the Search for Happiness con Simon Pegg. This Is Where I Leave You con Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda. Denzel Washington como The Equalizer. Kevin Costner y Octavia Spencer en Black and White. Las estrellas de Men, Women and Children, Jason Reitman, Adam Sandler, Ansel Elgort, Kaitlyn Dever. Timothy Spall es Mr. Turner. Foxcatcher con Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo. La desconcertate Maps to the Stars de David Cronenberg con Julianne Moore. Eddie Redmayne como Stephen Hawking en The Theory of Everything. The Imitation Game con Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode.

Toronto Film Festival
2014.
Sensory overload, with so many stars, too many parties, so many movies (and a few award-worthy performances.)  Here are
some highlights: Nightcrawler with Jake
Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo.  The Judge: Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall.
Hector and the Search for Happiness with Simon Pegg.  St. Vincent with Bill Murray & Melissa McCarthy. Salma Hayek in town as a producer with her hand-drawn animated film based on Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet. This Is Where I Leave You stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda. Denzel
Washington as The Equalizer. Kevin
Costner and Octavia Spencer in Black and White.  Men, Women and Children stars Jason , Adam Sandler, Ansel Elgort,
Kaitlyn Dever. Timothy Spall is Mr.
Turner. Foxcatcher with Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo.
David Cronenberg’s unsettling Map to
the Star
s with Julianne Moore. Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking in The
Theory of Everything
. The Imitation
Game
with Benedict Cumberbatch,
Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode. Miss Julie with Jessica Chastain. Damien Chazelle’s irrepressible Sundance hit Whiplash with Miles Teller, JK
Simmons.

It’s great hanging with your favorite stars but there’s nothing like meeting the real people who’s stories inspired movies that have made you cry. Rosewater’s first time director Jon Stewart, best known for his fake
news political satire on The Daily Show,
is here with Gael Garcia Bernal and real
life kidnapped journalist Maziar Bahari
he plays in the movie.

And then there’s Pride
starring Bill Nighy (and Dominic Westwho I didn’t see here), about
a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists in the 1980s who raised money
to support the striking mine workers in Wales. Some of the people who actually
lived this amazing story were on the dance floor at the InStyle/Hollywood
Foreign Press Association party Saturday night – including Jonathan Blake,
noteworthy as one on the very first people diagnosed with AIDS back in the day,
alive and well 3 decades later and getting to see his story on the big screen. This is TIFF 2014 so far.
