“I don’t watch a lot of TV,” says Rachel McAdams, “I listen
to the radio probably more than I watch TV. But I did just binge watch Transparent
which I just adored. I was so sad when it was over. I actually binge watched
the first season of True Detective in a cabin in the woods. It’s a great way to
watch a whole season. And it was sort of the perfect setting and the worst setting
to watch it in! But I found it really challenging and some of the best
television I’d ever seen and so that’s kind of where this journey began.”

The journey she’s talking about is her role as the sole female
star of the highly anticipated season two of HBO’s gothic crime drama – wherein she plays the hard
drinking, hard smoking and hard gambling Ventura County Detective Ani Bezzeride,
opposite Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. “It’s been a while since I’ve done
television and I guess I forgot just how wonderful it is to get to spend this
much time with a character,” she says. “I’m sad that there’s not the potential
for another season for her, the time you get to spend with these people in
these circumstances, it’s such a luxury you know. Your arc is just so much
greater and more expansive and, by the end I knew exactly what she’d eat for
breakfast and I knew her inside and out. I feel like sometimes in film you’re
just getting to that point and it’s over so, yeah, just the deep exploration was
probably the highlight for me. The problem is I want more.»

Yeah we’re already hooked. You?
