A Charlize le gusta ser la mala

Charlize Theron goza el interpretar a chicas malas. Ha gozado de esto desde su papel ganador del Oscar en Monster: Asesina en serie hasta su más reciente rol en Young Adult, un filme mucho más leve donde interpreta a una escritora, alcohólica y egocéntrica que intenta robarse a su novio de la prepa y alejarlo de su esposa y su bebé recién nacido.

Sin embargo, su personaje en la película que se encuentra filmado lleva el concepto de chica mala a otro nivel: es Ravenna, la reina maldita en Blanca nieves y el cazador, en donde se enfrenta a la Blanca Nieves interpretada por Kristen Stewart.

“Me estoy divirtiendo muchísimo con este personaje. Es tan icónico e identifiqué el potencial de tomar algo tan conocido y darle la vuelta y hacer algo que fuera distinto. Pero también tengo que ser honesta: me encanta lo extravagante de todo el asunto. Nunca había experimentado algo así en una película. Siempre había interpretado a personajes en los que me presento y no tengo que hacerme el peinado o que me maquillen, sólo voy directo al trabajo. Pero en esta ocasión paso por dos horas de peinado y maquillaje y media hora para meterme en el corsé y ponerme la corona. Puedo darle órdenes a la gente y sentarme en un trono. Me siento como si tuviese un año."

"Cuando veo a mis amigas saco mi celular con todas las fotos y les presumo: ‘Este es mi castillo, este es mi trono…’. Es una experiencia muy diferente para mí comparada con las películas independientes de bajo presupuesto. Ha sido grandioso, en verdad grandioso”.

Charlize Theron likes playing bad girls – from her Oscar-winning role as a serial killer in Monster, to her latest, much more light-hearted film Young Adult, where she plays a self-absorbed alcoholic author who tries to steal her old high school boyfriend away from his wife and new-born infant. But the role she’s currently shooting takes the concept of bad girl to a whole new level. – playing the Evil Queen Ravenna in Snow White and the Huntsman opposite Kristen Stewart’s Snow White –  she takes the concept of bad girl to a whole new level.

“I’m having a blast with her, I can say that. It’s such an iconic character and I saw the potential to kind of take something so known and turn it upside down and on its face and do something with it that could be different. And also I have to be honest, I’ve loved the whole extravaganza of it all. I’ve never really had that in a film. I’ve always played characters where I just show up and I don’t even do hair and make-up and just go straight to work. And on this I actually have like 2 hours of hair and make-up, and half and hour to dress me in corsets and crowns. I get to order people around and I have a throne. I find myself like I’m a 1 year old, I’ve been walking around with my friends and I have all these photos of the set on my phone and I’m like, ‘This is my castle and this is my throne’ you know, its just such a different experience for me from the usual low budget independent film. And it’s been really, really great.”

With two Snow White movies in the works – the other is a more family-friendly version Mirror Mirror, from starring Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and Lily Collins as Snow White – which one will you buy a ticket to see in the theater?
