Evan Rachel Wood: época de cambios

Siempre la hemos adorado, pero este año, entre el remake de Mildred Place, su papel recurrente en True Blood y su rol más maduro en The Ides of March, Evan Rachel Wood está pasando por un momento intensísimo en su carrera.

Se ve más confiada y más bella que nunca, y si recuerdas lo que escribí en mi reporte desde el Festival de Venecia, ¡descubrimos que esta muchachona también sabe cantar, y muy bien! ¿Pero qué ha aprendido, qué la inspira, que ha cambiado además de su peinado?

“He aprendido mucho –asegura–. A través de las relaciones he aprendido las lecciones más importantes de mi vida. Me di cuenta de lo que quiero y, más importante aún, lo que no quiero. Tengo más experiencia: sé en dónde quiero encajar y quién soy. Fue todo un proceso de descubrimiento y creo que me percaté de cómo quererme a mí misma y cómo ser feliz no siendo alguien más.

“Respecto a lo que me inspira, es algo evoluciona y cambia de manera constante. Por ahora, mi apariencia está muy inspirada en Bowie. Amo a las mujeres como Tilda Swinton, quienes son muy andróginas pero hermosas y fascinantes y fuertes. Siempre me dio envidia que parecía que los hombres la tienen fácil: sólo tienen que pasarse los dedos por el pelo para peinarse, pueden usar pantalones y estar cómodos. Entonces pensé: ‘¿Por qué no pruebo con un look masculino?’. Sonó bien, así que ahora me estoy divirtiendo con él, es bastante cool”.
Y definitivamente no es masculino. Para nada. No en alguien como ella.

Evan Rachel Wood – going though changes.

We’ve always loved her but this year, between the Mildred Pierce remake, her ongoing role in True Blood  and her more womanly role in The Ides of March, Evan Rachel Wood’s career is on fire. She’s more confident and more beautiful than ever before, and if you remember from my Venice report, we’ve discovered the girl can truly sing as well! So what has she learned, what inspires her, what’s changed – besides the hairdo?

“I’ve learned a lot,” she says wistfully. “I’ve learned some of my most important lessons in life through relationships. I learned what I want and more importantly I learned what I don’t want. I’m more experienced now,  I know where I fit and who I am. It was a total process of discovery, and I think I learned how to love myself, and to be happy without it being about anybody else.

As far as what inspires me, it’s constantly evolving and changing. Right now for example my look is very Bowie-inspired. I love women like Tilda Swinton who are very androgynous but beautiful and striking and strong. I was always kind of envious that guys seem to have it so easy, they could just run their fingers through their hair, they get to wear pants and be comfortable. So I thought, why don’t I just try that masculine look out, that sounds good. So now I’m just having fun with it, it’s cool.”

And very definitely not masculine. Not at all. Not on her.
