Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal es un tipo chistoso. Pero aunque eso resulta en una tarde entretenida, no siempre hace una entrevista productiva. Estamos en Londres y me pregunto si alguna vez responderá algo con seriedad y si esa ceniza volcánica se disipará el suficiente tiempo para dejar que mi avión salga –lo hizo–. Sucedió algo así: 

Sobre el proceso de convertirse en el musculoso héroe de acción en El príncipe de Persia, Jake dice, completamente serio: "Es difícil que te paguen por hacer ejercicio. No hay nada más difícil. Primero, tuve que dejarme el pelo largo, lo cual en sí es un gran reto. En realidad fueron dos cosas simples. Comenzó con el baño, mi régimen diario fue ponerme shampoo, lo cual hace maravillas con los bíceps si te frotas vigorosamente, y luego ejercitas los tríceps con el acondicionador… Y beber el agua de la bañera es una buena forma de mantenerte hidratado mientras te bañas y entrenas para lograr el físico del Príncipe de Persia".
 
¿En serio? ¿Así nos la vamos a llevar? ¿Qué hay sobre los retos de trabajar en el desierto? Fergie habló sobre lo difícil que fue hacer su número de baile en la arena para Nine…

"De nuevo, como dije al principio, es muy difícil ser actor. Son días y días en hazañas para tragarte el orgullo sobre las que nadie nunca se entera –sonríe–. No, he hecho muchas películas en la arena. Es muy raro. Leo los guiones y digo ‘Sí, yo puedo hacer eso’. Y luego llego al desierto y me pregunto ‘¿Cómo diablos no sabía que filmaríamos en el desierto durante cuatro meses?’. Sí, la arena ya está en mi ADN. Si tengo hijos algún día, nacerán hechos de arena. Personalmente, preferiría ser la arena en las escenas de Fergie que en las mías, pero esa es sólo mi opinión". Se mete en todos lados. Como decía mi mamá, tenía arena en mi schlitz. El príncipe de Persia: El Schlitz del tiempo".

Jake Gyllenhaal is a funny guy. But while that makes for an amusing afternoon it doesn’t always make for a productive interview. We’re in London, and I’m wondering if he will ever answer a question seriously –and if that damned volcanic ash cloud will blow out of the way long enough to let my plane take off. (It did)

It goes something like this:

On the process of turning himself into the muscle-bound action guy in Prince of Persia, Jake comments, totally deadpan, “Its so hard to get paid to exercise. There’s nothing harder. First I grew the hair, which again was really so hard. It was really two simple things. It started with bathing, my daily regimen which was shampooing –which really works out the biceps if you rub vigorously– and then the triceps are worked out with the conditioning… And drinking the bathwater is a nice way to stay hydrated while bathing and training to get the Prince of Persia physique.”

Seriously? This is how it’s going to go? What about the challenges of working in the desert? Fergie talked about how tough it was doing her dance number in the sand for Nine…

“Again, like I said in the beginning, it is so hard to be an actor. Day in and day out a pride swallowing siege that nobody will ever fully know about. (grins) No, I’ve made a lot of movies in sand. It’s so strange. Like I read the scripts and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ll do it’. And then I show up in the desert and ask myself, ‘How the hell did I not know we were shooting in the desert for 4 months?’ Yes, sand is in my DNA by now. If I have children one day they will be born made of sand. I would rather be the sand in Fergie’s scenes than in mine, personally, but that’s just me. It gets in everywhere. Like my mother used to say, I had a lot of sand in my schlitz. Prince of Persia: The Schlitz of Time.” (laughing)
