James McAvoy y sus poderes mutantes

James McAvoy y sus poderes mutantes

¿Controlar la mente o ser invisible?

Los X-Men regresaron….

James McAvoy & X-Men

The X-MEN are back – well back in time that is, to the beginnings, before they learn to come to terms with all the cool things they can do with their mutant super powers. James McAvoy plays young Professor Charles Francis Xavier, before he becomes Professor X (and before he becomes Patrick Stewart!)

In spite of another round of volcanic ash threatening airport closures, the charming Scottish actor sat down with me in London last week to talk about super powers and how his almost-superstar status effects his daily life now that he’s a dad.

Would he ever want to have a super power, like Charles’ ability to read minds, since his son is still a baby and can’t really communicate?

“In terms of wanting to read the mind of a child, I think that would be the most terrifying thing,” he laughs. “I think that’s the reason we can’t remember what it’s like to be one or two or three because I think, I don’t know if our psyches could take it. I think we’d all have mental breakdowns if we could remember what it was like.”

What about being able to become invisible, to avoid fans?

“My mutant fame power, we’d call it. You know I think it depends how you structure your life. And I’m quite a private person as well, so I feel like my private life is strong enough that I don’t really have problems like that. People are 99.9% really pleasant and nice to me if they even say anything to me at all."

"There’s only been one weird encounter that I had, but I don’t want to make the girl feel bad if she reads this, because she’ll know who I’m talking about, someone who had made some beautiful things and written a song, and she’d put together a photo-shopped collage of pictures. Anyway when I met her I didn’t realize the lady was a fan but I was talking to her for about 20 minutes, and I just thought she happened to be standing at the bar next to me."

"But then I realized that I’d kind of been followed there, so that was kind of weird –  but you know what,  completely unthreatening or anything strange like that. It was just the shock of realizing, wow I’ve been tailed. It wasn’t bad, it was just surprising.”

That’s called a stalker, James!   “People say, you know, after X-Men things are going to blow up and all that but people have been saying that to me since I did NARNIA and its still not happened so, fingers crossed. I’ll carry on being ignored.”

So McAvoy might not think HE needs a super power, but what about you – if you could have a super power what would it be and why?
