Desperate housewife Sheridan claims abuse

The inner circle of Hollywood is like a big dysfunctional extended family with family feuds, marriages gone bad, secrets kept, secrets leaked, mudslinging and lawsuits a way of life. And most of the time it’s frivolous. But not always.

Now, Nicollette Sheridan, who starred as Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives , has filed a $20 million lawsuit against ABC and the show’s creator, Marc Cherry on charges of wrongful termination, assault and battery, gender violence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

It all started, claims Sheridan, on September 24, 2008 when she questioned something in the script and Cherry “forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head.” The actress immediately complained to the network but no action was taken. Soon after, she was terminated from the show.

While the other “housewives” are keeping their lips sealed for now, insiders say that Sheridan isn’t the only cast member who’s had encounters with the writer’s dark side. When Teri Hatcher previously complained to the network about Cherry’s bullying ways, his alleged response at the time: “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”

It remains to be seen what the outcome will be or how the this might or might not effect life on Wisteria Lane…
