No vemos a Bill y Sookie juntos, o a Sookie y Eric.

True Blood and baby on the way

Have you ever wondered, vampires can’t impregnate people, right? So hanging out with Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin the other day, I asked, Can werewolves impregnate people?

Stephen: Absolutely, because they’re human. Listen. Obviously in Twilight world, it can happen. We’ve had long talks about it on the set. Like if there was sexual interaction between a vampire and a human, what about the bodily fluids that would be exchanged, what would they be? And so we decided that conceiving was not a possibility. (laughing). But that said, you know, we have gone back on things before. Sometimes, you’ll get a script in and you’ll go, “Whoa, wait a minute, back in episode three of season two, we decided that they couldn’t do so and so, and now all of a sudden they can. And Alan will go, “There was a piece of vampire legislation that was changed. And then from then on its part of our mythology.”

I guess as your baby bump grows we won’t be seeing as much skin this year…
Anna:
You know what’s really interesting about this season is that there was very little scheduled anyway because Sookie doesn’t have a boyfriend and Sookie’s a nice girl, she usually only has sex when she has a boyfriend. So actually as it turns out it really was good timing; last season it might have been a little weird, that Swedish forest or Narnia as we like to call it might have been a little awkward with this giant “purse” I’m carrying around for the entire second half of the season (gestures to her belly). There’s only so much they can hide, even with clever costuming, camera angles and good old fashioned movie magic.

So if Sookie’s not around as much, will we ever get to see sexy Bill or only serious Bill?
Stephen: Sexy Bill manages to squeeze out every now and then. (laughs) Whether it’s my love handles or
squeezing out of my costumes. But there isn’t as much sex this year. There isn’t as much outrageousness. But what there is, is this kind of underlying suspense about what’s going to happen which I think elevates it. One thing that I think that happens this year which is quite an interesting turn is that sex becomes political. Sex becomes a manipulative device. And everybody knows it. Which is really interesting.

Any hints about what’s to come?
Stephen: Well for Bill and Sookie, at the end of Season 3 there was a break, and at the end of Season 4 there was like, never again from her. And I don’t want to see either of you screw ups. So we don’t get to see Bill and Sookie together or Eric and Sookie for that matter. But, because of the situation that Eric and Bill find themselves in, they realize at some point that she may be helpful. And I think it’s the first time really that our characters play with the idea of using her rather than necessarily wanting to see her. So that’s a sort of a cosmic shift. That doesn’t mean that when they see her they’re not going to have an emotional reaction to it. But they need to get themselves out of a very sticky situation. And they know she’ll be able to help. So it’s more of a kind of convenience meeting.

Anna: The thing about our show is that it’s all surprises. I mean, every single scene and every single script there’s something odd or strange or I can’t believe they did that. Wow our writers are really sick. But what are the biggest surprises? Truthfully they’re still to come and I can’t tell you.

Have you ever given blood, are you squeamish, like if you cut your finger?
Anna: I tried to give blood at one point but I had recently had piercings, tattoos and traveled to countries that they didn’t care for [laughing] so I was ineligible. But if I bleed, do I feed it to my husband? Obviously I bottle it so he can drink it for dinner when he gets home because that would just be rude not to. It’s super romantic.

(readers: don’t try this at home…)
