¡Katniss está de regreso!

Jennifer Lawrence se
sienta –vestida con unos pantalones de Yves St. Laurent muy a la moda y
apretados– para hablar sobre la próxima premiere de Los juegos del hambre En llamas y el viaje meteórico de su carrera
y su vida. Las similitudes con Katniss Everdeen son obvias, pues ha tenido que
asimilar la fama repentina y el poder que eso conlleva, pero, ¿dónde se
detienen los paralelos?

“Con la muerte y la
destrucción”, me dice con su humor seco. “Pero en serio, siempre ha dudado en
compararme con Katniss de alguna forma, porque nuestras situaciones son muy
diferentes. La responsabilidad sobre sus hombros es incomprensible comparada
con mis quejas sobre cuántas preguntas me hacen los reporteros. Leí el primer
libro de Los juegos del hambre cuando
estaba a la mitad de la temporada de premios y tenía como 19, creo. Recuerdo
que me sentí lanzada de repente a este mundo donde tenía que usar ropa que no
sentía mía y escuchando a gente hablar de cosas de las que yo no sabía nada.
Luego en la segunda cinta ya lo entendía un poco mejor, pero aún no me sentía
parte de ello. Pero sí sabía navegar mejor ese mundo y ya no me sentía tan
alejada. Excepto por estos pantalones de piel”, dice riendo, “los cuales voy a
desabrocharme porque son extremadamente incómodos. Perdón”.

Y por eso la amamos,
porque es completamente real y aterrizada. ¿Cómo se escapa de los reflectores?

En una palabra: familia.
“Uno de mis hermanos me invitó a ir a tirar al blanco en Navidad, así que
fuimos y la pasamos muy bien. Es un lugar extraño pero muy lindo para
conversar. Excepto por los, ¡bang! ¡Bang! Mi otro hermano y yo disfrutamos
mucho de la cerveza, y eso nos une mucho. Nos la pasamos cuidando a los niños,
él tiene dos hijos y uno acaba de nacer en Halloween, Jake Lantern, los
cuidamos juntos, es lo único para lo que tiene tiempo. O me deja y yo los
cuido. Cosas normales”.

Así como el Sinsajo se
volvió un símbolo para Katniss, ¿cuál sería el símbolo para la vida de Jennifer
Lawrence? “No sé, porque la cosa que creo que me representa, es decir, donde
mejor me siento yo sola y feliz, es cuando me quedo a dormir con mis amigas. Ya
sea porque estoy muy cansada para salir o porque no quiero estar ahí en
público. Ellas vienen y vemos tele mala como algún reality. No sé cómo representar eso. No sé si haya un símbolo para
“las amigas se quedan a dormir”, ¿la foto de un sleeping bag?”.

Y así, la ganadora del
Oscar se abrocha de nuevo sus pantalones de piel negros y se prepara para unas
fotos…

Jennifer Lawrence sits down – in some very stylish, very tight Yves St. Laurent leather pants – to talk about the upcoming premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and this meteoric career journey that’s become her life. The similarities to Katniss Everdeen are obvious, having to come to terms with the fame thrust upon
her and the power it can bring, but where do the parallels end?

“Death and war and destruction,” she deadpans. “Seriously, I always
felt hesitant to compare myself in any way to Katniss because our situations
are so vastly different, the responsibility on her shoulders is incomprehensible
compared to me when I complain about getting asked too many questions at some press junket. I read the first Hunger Games when I was in the middle of awards season
for my first time and I was like nineteen I think, and I remember feeling so
thrown into this bizarre world and I am wearing clothes that didn’t feel like
me and kind of just listening to people just talk about stuff that I didn’t
know about. And then on the second movie, kind of understanding it but still not
feeling like you are a part of it, but knowing better how to maneuver your way into
that world and not feeling so estranged in it. Except for (laughing) these leather pants,
which I am going to unbuckle because they are incredibly uncomfortable. Sorry.” 

And that’s why we love her – she is completely down-to-earth and real. So how does she escape the glare of the spotlight?

In a word, family. “One of my brothers, he bought me skeet shooting for
Christmas, so we went skeet shooting and that was really fun. It’s weirdly a
nice place to have a conversation, minus the bang, bang!  And my other brother and I, we both love beer and
so we have that in common, so we mostly babysit, he has two kids and one of
them is newborn, he was born on Halloween, Jake Lantern, so we babysit together,
it’s all he has time for. Or he leaves me and I babysit. Normal stuff.”

As Mockingjay has become the symbol for Katniss,  what would
be the symbol for Jennifer Lawrence’s life?

“I don’t know, because the thing that I feel like represents
me, like when I feel the most myself and the most happy is when I am having a
sleepover with my friends, because I am too tired to go out and I don’t want to
go out because I don’t want to deal with the public. And they just come over
and we just watch really crappy Reality TV. So I don’t know how to represent a
sleepover. If there’s like a symbol for that, maybe a picture of a sleeping bag
or something?”

With that the Oscar-winner fastens back the waistband of her black leather pants and gets ready for some photos…
