Hollywood ama el Pacquiao vs. Mayweather
Jeremy Renner, Michelle Rodriguez y otras estrellas nos dan su opinión de la pelea...
Yo sí la estaré viendo, ¿y ustedes?
Luego de un largo sábado de entrevistas en los junkets de Mad Max: Fury Road y Notas perfectas 2, iré a casa de mi hermano a ver a Manny Pacquaio enfrentarse a Floyd Mayweather en una pantalla de tele grande… y todo mientras las grandes estrellas se van a Las Vegas. Pero incluso las mega-celebridades como Rihanna, DiCaprio y Will Smith se quedarán con ganas de sus boletos de cortesía a menos de que estén dispuestos a promocionar algún logo durante la pelea.
El súper fanático del boxeo, Mark Wahlberg cree que esta pelea podría salvar al boxeo y le apostó a Diddy $250,000 dólares que Pacquiao vencería.
Hay otras estrellas que han sido mantenido sus apuestas en privado, pero pueden estar seguros de que mucho dinero estará cambiando de manos al final de la batalla épica. ¿A quién le van? Un par de fans locales tienen un favorito…
«¡Vamos! Eso está fácil», dice Jeremy Renner. «Mi corazón siempre estará con Manny. Yo le veré en mi casa. Será la pelea del siglo. No puedo esperar».
Michelle Rodriguez: «¡Amo a Manny».
Y Carey Mulligan (sorpresivamente fanática del box) está de acuerdo. «Yo voy a estar en Broadway en función, así que no la veré en vivo, pero le voy a Pacquiao porque lo amo. Lo amo. Es un luchador increíble, pero también es un gran tipo. Me gusta su política y el trabajo que hace. Siempre le voy al bueno. ¿Y yo? Yo solo boxeo en el gimnasio».
«Entrené un poco con Justine Fortune, la entrenadora de fuerza y acondicionamiento de Pacquiao», dice Chris Hemsworth. «Así que ya sé un poco de ellos. Soy gran fan. También soy fan de Mayweather, pero quisiera ver a Pacquiao ganar. Es un gran tipo».
Su coestrella en Avengers, Chris Evans, es más pragmático. «Digo, si tengo que irme por la segura, escogería a Mayweather, pero va a ser una buena pelea».
¿Y qué sería de un gran evento deportivo sin algo de controversia? «¿Alguien me puede explicar cómo es que apoyan a un boxeador que estuvo en la cárcel por golpear a una mujer?», pregunta el director Rod Lurie (Hells on Wheels, Straw Dogs). «Para se run tipo rudo, Floyd Mayweather es un cobarde. ¡Vamos Manny!»

I’ll be watching tomorrow night, will you? After a long
Saturday of interviews at the Mad Max Fury Road and Pitch Perfect 2 junkets,
I’m heading to my brother’s to watch Manny Pacquaio face off with Floyd
Mayweather on a big screen TV – while the stars are already heading to Las Vegas. But even mega-celebrities like Rihanna,
Leonardo DiCaprio and Will Smith are reportedly not getting their usual
complimentary tickets – unless they agree to promote a company
logo during the fight.
Boxing superfan Mark Wahlberg thinks this fight could
save boxing, and he bet Diddy $250,000 on his man Pacquiao. Other stars have been
less public about their wagers, but you can be sure that a lot of big money
will be changing hands at the end of this epic fight. So who’s your pick? A few local fans weigh
in….
“C’mon man, that’s an easy one!” laughs Jeremy Renner. “My
heart’s always with Manny. Yeah I’ll be watching the fight from home, most
likely. It’s going to be the fight of the century. Cannot wait.”
Michelle Rodriguez: “I
love Manny!” And surprise boxing
enthusiast Carey Mulligan agrees, “I’ll be on stage performing on Broadway so I
won’t be able to watch the fight streaming live, but I’ll be rooting for
Pacquiao because I love him. Love him. He’s an incredible fighter but he’s also
a really good guy, I like his politics and the work he does. I’m always rooting
for the good guy. And me? I only box in a gym.”
“I trained a bit with
Justine Fortune who is Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach,” says Chris
Hemsworth, “and so I know a little bit about that camp. I’m a real fan. I’m a
fan of Mayweather as well but I would like to see Pacquaio win. He’s such a
great guy.”
His Avengers co-star Chris Evan is more pragmatic. “I mean,
if I have to play the safe money I’m going Mayweather, but it’s going to be a
good fight.”
And what’s a mega sporting event without some controversy? “Can
anybody explain to me how they can root for a boxer who went to jail for
beating up a woman?” asks director Rod Lurie (director, Hell on Wheels, Straw
Dogs). “For a tough guy, Floyd Mayweather is a coward. Go Manny!”
Whatever happens it promises to be a night to remember…
