Ben y Jen finalmente deciden separarse

Después de meses de rumores, Ben Affleck y Jennifer Garner finalmente hicieron pública su separación y desataron un frenesí de especulación en los medios aunque realmente nadie estaba sorprendido. Siempre es triste cuando un matrimonio se acaba. Pero cuando es una ruptura entre parejas de súper famosos de Hollywood, ¿nosotros nos lo tomamos más personal? ¿Será que tendemos una fantasía secreta en la que vivimos indirectamente los romances y bodas de las celebridades, y al final, sus divorcios? ¿Por qué es nuestro asunto? ¿Y por qué siempre sentimos que tenemos que escoger un lado, cuando la verdad es que los detalles que sabemos son de los tabloides? ¿Se pueden imaginar viviendo una vida que está debajo del foco de atención de cualquier tipo de transgresión, cualquier chisme en una relación, alimentando un rumor maligno?

A lo largo de los años, y desde que empezaron a andar, yo he tenido chance de pasar con ellos algo de tiempo en premieres y eventos, y siempre me han parecido muy aterrizados, normales y adorables. Después de todo, en la casa o en la pantalla grande, son sólo seres humanos. Sí, son bastante famosos, pero son sólo seres humanos como todos nosotros. No los juzguemos tan fuerte y en vez de tomar un lado y escoger el Equipo Ben o el Equipo Jen, deseémosle a los dos lo mejor.

Y así como nos imaginamos a Ben Affleck yéndose al futuro en su batmóvil, y nos preguntamos si Jennifer Garner finalmente saldrá adelante como actriz, ¿qué es de las otras parejas de Hollywood? ¿Tienen favoritos? Si es así, por favor compartan quiénes son y por qué les llaman la atención.

After months of rumors, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have
finally gone public with the sad announcement that they have separated, sparking
a media feeding frenzy of speculation even though it wasn’t really a surprise. It’s
always sad when any marriage fails, but what is it about the breakup between
super famous Hollywood couples that make us take it so personally? Do we
secretly live out some sort of vicarious fantasy life through following
celebrity romances and weddings, and finally, divorces? Why is it our business?
And why do we so often feel compelled to choose sides, when the truth is, the
only details we know are the fabrications of the tabloids. Can you imagine
living a life under such a spotlight that every little transgression, every
blip in a relationship, becomes the fodder for malicious gossip? Over the years I spent a little time with this
very-down-to-earth couple, from the very beginning of their relationship and
later at various awards shows and premieres – finding them always loving and
funny and fairly adorable. After all, at home and on the big screen, they’re
just two human beings, yes very famous humans, but still, in the end just
humans like the rest of us. So lets not judge too harshly and instead of
aligning with Team Ben or Team Jen, just wish them both well.

So as we think about Ben Affleck riding his Batmobile into
the future as a single man and super hero, and wonder if Jennifer Garner will finally truly
come into her own as an actress, what about other Hollywood couples – do you
