Cine PREMIERE presente en el festival independiente.
El Festival Sundance edición 2012 arrancó a todo vapor ayer por la noche: palabras profundas durante la conferencia de prensa, dos películas buenísimas (Hello I Must Be Going y Wish You Were Here) y, aceptémoslo, una fiesta de apertura bastante aburrida. El presidente y fundador del evento, Robert Redford, habló acerca de la “parálisis” del gobierno de Estados Unidos, y el director del Festival, John Cooper, reflexionó sobre las maneras en que los artistas contribuyen a una cultura vibrante. Dijo Redford: “La situación feliz de la que estamos muy orgullosos aquí, durante esta semana, es que vamos a ver el trabajo de los artistas, quienes incluso opinan que su obra es reflejo de estos tiempos difíciles: aquí no hay parálisis. Hay historias nuevas y frescas, y me alegra el hecho de que las veremos”.
Y así comienza todo. El tema de este año es el Cine Independiente. ¿Pero acaso no ha sido así siempre?
The 2012 Sundance Film Festival kicked off into high gear last night – profound words at the press conference, 2 terrific movies (Hello I Must Be Going and Wish You Were Here), and ok, a typically dull opening night party. President and Founder Robert Redford talked about the American government “in paralysis” and Festival Director John Cooper talked about the ways in which artists contribute to a vibrant culture. “The happy thing we’re pretty proud of is that here, for this week,” said Redford, “is that we’re going to see work from artists, who even though their work might be reflective of these hard times, there’s not paralysis here. There are fresh, new stories I’m happy you’re going to get to see.”
And so it begins. The theme of this year’s festival is Independent Film. But hasn’t that always been the theme?
