So Many Films So Little Time

One of the first films to create a stir at the 2011 Film Festival is the emotionally-charged documentary Sing Your Song, about the life, music and tireless civil rights activism of Harry Belafonte. And the Octogenarian hasn’t slowed down, tonight co-hosting with Robert Kennedy Jr. a charity premiere party for another doc, The Last Mountian. The event will benefit Waterkeeper Alliance and feature a performance by KT Tunstall.

And then there’s the silly stuff – ran into my old pal Pete Dinklage, here in Park City with the film that opened Slamdance last night: Pete Small is Dead, directed by Alexandre Rockwell (1992’s “In The Soup”) and also starring Tim Roth, Rosie Perez and Steve Buscemi.

But enough about Slamdance, Pete Dinklage’s former director, Tom McCarthy (“The Station Agent”) also had a film premiering last night. Win Win starring Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, got rousing applause from a star-studded audience. (OK, name-dropping, we sat next to Paul Rudd.)   In the American Dramatic category, a very  “Sundance’ movie The Ledge, starring Charlie Hunnam, Terrence Howard, Patrick Wilson and Liv Tyler.

And this is only the beginning….
