Entourage: cuenta regresiva hacia el final
Y los próximos proyectos de su cast.
“Ha sido una serie de últimas veces”, dice Kevin Connoly. “La última temporada. El último episodio. La última semana. La última fiesta de fin de filmación. La última vez que tengo que hablar contigo”. Ríe. “Es broma, es broma”.
“Resulta fascinante”, añade Jeremy Piven. “Es interesantísimo terminar justo cuando estás como que revelando la humanidad de un personaje escrito brillantemente por Doug Ellin a lo largo de todos estos años. Un personaje que ha sido muy ambicioso y prolífico, y que ha ido por la vida siendo bastante brusco. Y ahora su esposa está ya harta y las cosas que más le importaban en la vida le están siendo quitadas. Y como actor el poder interpretar algo así, en que se juega todo, es un regalo”.
¿Hay vida después de Entourage?
Kevin Dillon: “No puedo hablar por los demás, pero yo tengo una chamba –ríe–. Claro que esta serie es algo que resulta muy difícil de igualar, estaba increíblemente escrita y los personajes eran divertidísimos. Pero estoy haciendo una comedia de media hora con CBS. Acabamos de hacer la primera sesión de lectura en voz alta. Se titula How to Be a Gentleman (Cómo ser un caballero)” .
K. Connolly: “Eso suena a algo sobre lo que no tienes ni idea”.
K. Dillon: “Todo un caso de papeles invertidos”.
J. Piven: “Yo tengo Spy Kids 4: de hecho, llevare a mis sobrinas Pearl y Lily Rose a verla, porque no saben lo que el tío Jeremy hace para ganarse la vida, así que será increíble mostrarles que soy un actor y poder llevarlas a algo que sí puedan ver. También está una película llamada I Melt With You, que fue escrita y dirigida por Mark Pellington; fue una experiencia increíble. Y otra vez intento desesperadamente impresionar a mis sobrinas actuando con Miley Cyrus en una película titulada So Undercover”.
Adrian Grenier: “De hecho estoy comenzando una película que me emociona mucho. Quiero seguir dirigiendo, pero eso toma su tiempo y no es algo que suceda de la noche a la mañana. Ya aprendí que hasta que estés en el set haciéndolo, es prematuro discutir lo que sea, pero estoy en busca de mi próxima chamba como actor y estoy trabajando en un par de proyectos como productor. Me encuentro en pláticas con HBO para dirigir otro documental”.
J. Piven: “Se encargó del séptimo episodio y fue un director magnífico, estoy seguro de que trabajará todo el tiempo”.
¿Y qué hay de los rumores de que habrá una película de Entourage? “Vamos a hacerla, 92 minutos intensos los dejarán deseando más y el plan es hacerla lo antes posible”, afirma el creador del show, Doug Ellin. “El trato está hecho, ahora tengo que entregar algo a lo que estos muchachos le puedan hincar el diente. Así que depende de mí idear de lo que se tratará la película. No tenemos ni un primer borrador. Ni siquiera he prendido la computadora”.
Entourage, countdown to the end…
“It’s been a series of lasts,” says Kevin Connolly. Last season. Last episode. Last week. Last wrap party. Last time I have to talk to you.” (laughing) “Just kidding.”
“It’s fascinating,” adds Jeremy Piven. “Just to finish where you’re kind of revealing the humanity of a character so brilliantly written by Doug Ellin for all these year, who has been wildly ambitious and prolific, bounding through life being incredibly abrasive. And now his wife has had it and the things that mean the most to him in his life are being taken away. And as an actor to be able to play those stakes – it’s a gift.”
Is there life after Entourage?
Kevin Dillon: “I can’t speak for these guys but I’ve got a job. (laughing) Of course this is just such a tough act to follow, the writing so great and the characters just so much fun. But I’m doing a CBS half hour comedy. We just did the first table read. It’s called How to be a gentleman.”
K. Connolly: “Something that you would know absolutely nothing about.”
K. Dillon: “Talk about role reversals.”
J. Piven: “I’ve got Spy Kids 4-D coming out – I’m actually going to bring my niece Pearl and Lily Rose to see it, because they don’t know what Uncle Jeremy does for a living, so it will be awesome to show them that I’m an actor and be in something I can actually show them for a change. And then there’s a movie called I Melt With You that Mark Pellington wrote and directed that was an incredible experience. And then once again I’m desperately trying to impress my nieces by playing opposite Miley Cyrus in a movie called So Undercover.”
Adrian Grenier: “I’m actually starting a movie now that I’m pretty excited about. And I want to continue the directing thing but that just takes time, and then it’s not something that happens overnight. So I’ve learned that until you’re actually standing there doing it, it’s premature to discuss anything, but I’m looking for my next job as an actor and I’ve got a couple of projects I’m working on as a producer and I’m working on making another deal with HBO to direct another documentary.”
J. Piven: “He directed Episode 7 and he was amazing as a director so I’m sure he’ll be working all the time.”
What about the buzz that there’s going to be an Entourage movie? “We’re going to do it, a fast-paced 92 minutes will hopefully leave them wanting more and the plan is to do it as soon as possible,” says the show’s creator Doug Ellin. “The deal’s in place, now I have to deliver something that these guys can sink their teeth into. So its up to me to figure out what that movie is. We don’t even have a first draft. I haven’t even turned on the computer yet.”
